SLIDELL, La. -- CNN has picked up the story of Pam Kinamore and the deaths of Baton Rouge women at the hands of a possible serial killer, and a safety meeting Thursday night in Baton Rouge was heavily attended, police say.
The meeting was billed by Baton Rouge police as a personal safety seminar where officers demonstrated defense tactics.
Meanwhile, Kinamore's family is going to great lengths to find the New Orleans native's killer, putting up billboards with her picture and offering a $75,000 reward.
WDSU NewsChannel 6 reporter Helena Moreno learned Wednesday that police are exploring a possible link between the Baton Rouge-area murders and the kidnapping and rape of a woman in Slidell.
In the Slidell case, police released a sketch of the suspect, shown above, and a description of the white pickup truck he was driving when he stopped a 28-year-old Mississippi woman on Interstate 10, told her he was a police officer and coerced her into his vehicle.
On Wednesday, the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office and Baton Rouge investigators were trying to determine if the white pickup could be the same vehicle as the one that may have been involved in the Kinamore case.
Kinamore disappeared July 12. The Mississippi woman was raped July 14.
Investigators are looking for a white 1996 or 1997 white Chevrolet pickup truck with a single cab and an aging paint job. Anyone with information shoudl call the tip line at (225) 389-3310.
