Baton Rouge police on Monday revealed some of the items taken from three women whose deaths have been linked by DNA evidence to a single killer.

WalletPolice said the man stole a toe ring from Pam Kinamore, whose body was found July 16 under the Whiskey Bay bridge. Her throat had been slashed, police said.

From Charlotte Murray Pace -- the woman police said put up an intense fight and may have wounded her attacker -- the killer took a a Louis Vuitton wallet containing a BMW key, a silver ring, her driver's license and a cell phone, police said. Pace was stabbed to death in her home on May 31.

From Gina Wilson Green, who was found strangled in her home on Sept. 24, 2001, the killer took a cloth purse and a cell phone, which was recovered behind some buildings across town from where Green was killed.

PurseThe purse has not been found, and is similar to the one pictured at right, only in black, pink, green, and blue.

Police said the killer may have wrapped these items, pretending they were new, and given them as gifts. He also may have kept them or thrown them away, according to police spokesman Cpl. Mary Ann Godawa

A tip line, (225) 389-3310, has been set up to take call from anyone with information about any of the cases.

Meanwhile, police are using televised briefings and news reports to send messages and speak to the serial killer, according to an LSU criminologist.

On Aug. 28, the police began pointing out mistakes the killer had made at crime scenes, a tactic LSU criminologist Cecile Guin said was designed to make him angry or scared enough to do something stupid.

In reality, the killer has been remarkably careful but for a few exceptions, Guin said.

Pace's licenseShe said the only mistakes he made involved apparently losing his composure with Pace and leaving behind his shoe print at one crime scene.

Guin said she also believes the attention the killer is getting in the media somehow satisfies his sexual fantasies enough to keep him from killing more.

She said most serial killers get caught because they either do or say something that gives them away.
