NEW ORLEANS -- Details in the Baton Rouge serial killer case, including a sketch that police deemed "significant new information," were revealed Tuesday by the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office.
A caller to the sheriff's tip line described seeing a white male in a white pickup truck in the area where the latest victim, Trenesia Dene Colomb, 23, of Lafayette, disappeared, according to Sheriff Mike Neustrom. The sighting occurred just days before the woman was found nude and beaten to death.
"The task force has developed information regarding a white male, possibly 30 to 40 years old, observed in the area of the 1300 block of Mills Road, north of Interstate 10, within the city of Scott," Neustrom said. "The person was observed on Thursday, Nov. 21, during the middle of the day. He is described as having an intense and intimidating stare.
"This person of interest was sitting in a vehicle described as a 90s-model white pickup truck with front and rear chrome bumpers, chrome grill -- possible after-market -- and chrome side mirrors.
Neustrom said the man is not considered a suspect, but rather as "someone who may have information pertinent to the Colomb investigation."
Investigators said that Colomb was a Marine and that she lived alone. She is the fourth victim to be tied to the serial killer.
The other vicitms are Gina Green, who was found strangled in her home Sept. 24, 2001; Charlotte Murray Pace, who was found stabbed to death May 31; and Pam Kinamore, who was abducted from her home July 12. Kinamore's throat was slit and her body was found about 30 miles from Baton Rouge.
Anyone with information about the man should call the sheriff's temporary tip line at (866) 973-2734. Neustrom said all information will be handled in a confidential manner.
