Investigators are hoping a new tactic will give them more information on the disappearance of Mari Ann Fowler, whom police said was kidnapped Christmas Eve.

FowlerThe FBI is trying to determine why someone would abduct Fowler, who vanished from the parking lot of a Port Allen sandwich shop at about 5:30 p.m.

The bureau is working with the West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office to develop a profile on Fowler. The profile, called a victimology, details the preferences and habits of a victim in an effort to learn more about his or her attacker.

Police also said they are searching a wooded area in northern Iberville Parish because it is an isolated area.

Fowler, 65, was on her way to visit her husband, former Elections Commissioner Jerry Fowler, in the Texas prison where he is serving time on corruption charges.
