Jogger Found Letter On Stanford Avenue

UPDATED: 12:31 p.m. CST March 25, 2003

A letter addressed to Carrie Yoder, the latest victim of a serial killer, has been sent to the state police crime lab for analysis.

A jogger found the letter Monday on Stanford Avenue, blocks from Yoder's home and on the same street where two other serial killer victims had lived.

Baton Rouge police spokesman Sgt. Charles Armstrong said he could not give any details about the letter, such as whether it was addressed by hand or how old it was.

Yoder, a 26-year-old doctoral candidate at Louisiana State University, disappeared from her rented home near the campus on March 3. Her body was found March 13 near the Whiskey Bay exit off Interstate 10. She had been strangled and beaten.

On March 18, authorities announced Yoder had been killed by the south Louisiana serial killer, who has been linked by DNA to the killings of four other women during the past 18 months.
