New Orleans police are asking for the public's help in locating and identifying a man wanted in connection with the aggravated rape of a 38-year-old New Orleans woman.

Rape composite
The rape occurred July 2 at 8:30 a.m. at an unknown location in Algiers.

According to investigators, the woman's vehicle broke down on Patterson Road when a dark-colored Grand Am occupied by three men stopped. One man got out and asked the woman if she needed help. The other two men then drove away.

The woman's vehicle started and the man asked her for a ride. The woman complied, and while driving, the man became violent.

The woman stopped the car and tried to run, but the man caught her and forced her back into the car, where he raped her, police said.

After the assault, the man forced the woman to drive him to a location where the man ran to a waiting red Grand Am, possibly with a Florida license plate 692XONU.

The man is described as black, 19 to 20 year old, 5 feet 6 inches tall with a slim build and a dark complexion. His hair was in twists and he had a tattoo on his left forearm of a cross with the words "Live 2 Die."

Crimestoppers, at (504) 822-1111, is offering a reward leading to the man's arrest. Callers can remain anonymous.
