Scott Simmons
Scott Simmons has been a reporter with WDSU since May 1993, but his broadcasting roots go back much further. His father, Al Simmons, was named Mississippi's Broadcaster of the Millenium in 1999. That same year, Scott was named Reporter of the Year by the Associated Press.

He grew up in Jackson, Miss., where he played football and baseball in high school. He attended Hinds Junior College and graduated with a degree in communications from Ole Miss.
His first television job was as an associate producer for WLBT in Jackson. He first ventured into news at WCBI in Columbus, Miss. His next stop before joining WDSU was Lafayette, La. He worked at KATC as an editor, photographer and reporter.
His most embarrassing moment in television occurred during his first live report, "I was so nervous, my legs were shaking."
When he's not reporting the news, Scott used to enjoy cycling, fishing, scubadiving and playing volleyball. Now he and his wife, Kimme, and their cocker spaniel, Boomer, spend all of their time cooing over the family's new addition, daughter Emilia Marie, who was born Feb. 14, 2001.
