Helena Moreno
WDSU NewsChannel 6 reporter Helena Moreno joined the station in November 2000.
Moreno comes from WTOC-TV in Savannah, Ga., where she was a general assignment reporter and fill-in anchor. She developed news stories that took her as far as Ayacucho, Peru, where Air Force troops were providing medical relief to villagers.
Moreno is fluent in Spanish, which came in handy during her trip to Peru, as well as here in New Orleans, when she was the only reporter able to talk to South American stowaways found aboard a cargo ship in Waggaman.
Moreno was born in Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico, and lived there for seven years.
She is a graduate of Southern Methodist University in Dallas, where she majored in journalism and minored in Spanish.
During her college years, she also studied in Madrid and Washington. While in Washington, she was a White House intern for Hillary Clinton.
